For the third time since 2004 the FinLab (Financial Laboratory at the London Stock Exchange) were holding its annual conference for a large number of Russian and Central Asian companies planning to raise capital in London in 2006-2007.

Hosted by the London Stock Exchange, the conference addressed some practical questions concerning an anticipated "Russian & CIS IPO boom" in London and sustainability of demand for the Russian and CIS assets in 2006-2007.

Presently a total of 10 companies with a large proportion of their assets in Russia are listed on the London Stock Exchange’s Main Market. In January 2006 the Exchange’s member firms traded a record $14.8 billion of Russian securities, an increase of 328 per cent on the same period last year. Trading in Russian securities represented around 69 per cent of the total trading volume on the International Order Book (IOB) in January 2006. In April 2006 there were 27 companies with the CIS focus listed on AIM.  According to some expert predictions, the Russian companies alone will be seeking to raise around 10 billion USD in London this year, comparing to 5 billion in 2005. The number of listings in Russia is also predicted to double.
